Letting the MLM Cat out of the Bag

Author: Ali Lyons

Duplication. We all know it's what makes good MLM companies work. Just do exactly as your sponsor does, then train your downline to do the same. The simpler the system your trying to duplicate, the more effective it will be.

Sounds fair enough. But if you're not having success with your MLM business, ask yourself, am I really duplicating the actions of the big wigs at the top of my company?

Chances are they have their own websites with their pictures and personal testimonials plastered all over it. Do you? Have you held your own huge, city-wide opportunity meeting in a hotel or some other public place? They probably have. Maybe that's where you signed up. You know those e-mails you always get from them with announcements, testimonials, and incentive programs? Why don't you send those out to your downline? You need to.

I remember going to an opportunity meeting for a particular company, which will remain nameless for now. It was held at a hotel and the turnout was huge. Right before the meeting started, the 'premier' asked a show of hands to see how many people were already distributors with the company. Almost everyone audience member raised their hands.

You should have seen his jaw drop. Do you think he wanted to spend the next hour preaching to the choir? NO! He wanted to sign up new recruits! Under him!

OK, so now let's let the cat out of the bag. Want to know the real secret to your upline's success? No, it's not bugging everyone in their warm market from their Aunt Edna to their mailman. It's this:

THEY ARE LEADERS!
THEY ENJOY MINI-CELEBRITY!
THEY ARE THE HUNTED; NOT THE HUNTER!

So where does that leave you? Bummed out and ready to throw in the towel? 'We can't all be leaders,' I can hear you saying. And that's true. But if you're willing to put in the work, the leverage and residual income this industry can afford you is unparalleled. But cold calling everyone in your warm market is only going to alienate your friends and family.

Here's the other bit of good news: You don't need to hold meetings to get that coveted credibility and have qualified prospects seeking you out. If you're willing to learn how to market online, you can connect with prospects who are actively looking for a home based business and are already sold on the MLM business model.

Once you've successfully negotiated the learning curve of pay per click, blogging, and ezine advertising you'll be in the coveted position of having recruits seeking you out. And once you've built a substantial downline, believe me, your friends and family will be much more interested in hearing about your business opportunity.
